This initiative has been born out of a fundamental need to provide a much greater stream of serious news and information to Barbadians and citizens of other countries, on esp. important national, regional, international affairs and issues. Also, we at the National Express News hope that this medium will certainly be seen as adding to and thereby NOT in any way taking away from or being in competition with any other news and information outlets in Barbados or based in Barbados.
The National Express News’ principal aims are: (1), to assist in the greater growth and development of journalism in Barbados, generally, and on line journalism, very particularly, and (2), to raise the level of intellectual discourse and discussion on the various relevant subjects in Barbados and elsewhere. Therefore, our approach to journalism via this blog will be based on very rationalist and responsible, but up-ending and people centered philosophies and activities. As well, notwithstanding that our aim will always be to embrace and be tolerant of many traditional and non-traditional views and philosophies, we will still however reserve that right in the final analysis to edit contributions to this blog for style and form of content, taste in the context of presentation and our own standards, and for purposes of legality etc.
Most importantly, we will NEVER EVER trade free and responsible journalism for so-called journalism that is essentially tantamount to the willful and reckless abuse and defamation of the character and integrity of persons and other entities in Barbados and any where else. Also, we will NEVER EVER make the fundamental and incorrigible mistake of thinking that the practice and business of journalism can grow and develop behind the veil of internet anonymity or based on unknowable and unaccountable leadership and management of any entity that claims to run any kind of journalistic enterprise. Barbadians and others MUST KNOW WHO WE ARE as that WE ARE HERE TO SERVE THEM AND OTHERS and they MUST KNOW too that they are here to serve us too.
Finally, NEN hopes that many, many people and other entities will come and support this blog as that we as Barbadians, esp., must increasingly seek to and use the very cost efficient, the very universal and multi functional computer oriented internet media as a means of greater communicating among ourselves and others, and esp. at a time when the traditional media in Barbados seek to obscenely and unfairly keep certain proper views and people out of their provinces, and by extension away from some of the senses of the Barbadian people, even as these media can rightly be accused of unwisely keeping their heads buried in the sands pretending not to realize that there are strong winds of change sweeping journalism in Barbados and across the world.
Thanking you for your support in advance!! The National Express News
